Musuck Reviews
Band: Ambition
Mission
CD: you name it, we hate it!!
Every Ambition Mission song packed onto one rockin' CD. Good, intelligent lyrics
coupled with powerful dual male/female vocals, and the sounds of sloppy pop
garage punk. This CD will make you want to dance around in your bedroom and then
rip up the neighborhood. But enough dumb euphuisms-just get it.
Band: Supersleuth
CD: Thirty-One Months
Straight-Edge, straight forward punk is basically how this release from
Supersleuth can be summed up. Unlike many bands associated with the straight
edge movement, Supersleuth's lyrics are far from self-righteous. I particularly
enjoyed the songs. "Who Must We Fight For", and "Better
Ways"
Band: The Tie That
Binds
CD: Half Past Hero's
This CD reeks of emoness-not that Emo is a bad thing, but you have to take it
for what it is. Half Past Hero's is a solid CD overall and definitely filled my
Emo quota for a while.
Band: Bhopal Stiffs
CD: (1985-1989)
I really like this CD though I can't pin point exactly why. As the title
suggests, "1985-1989" serves to chronicle the Bhopal Stiffs work
through those years. Towards the latter end of the CD, there are 10 live songs.
Defiantly worth checking out.
Band: Oysterhead
CD: The Grand Pecking Order
The first time I listened to this CD, I was sitting at one of the tables in my
school cafeteria. A friend of mine happened to snatch my headphones from me and
upon her hearing the first few songs, she declared "This is some good
shit" And it is. Intelligent lyrics and a music style that hints of Primus
and something familiar yet indefinable. Highlights include: "Shadow of a
Man" and "Pseude Suicide"
Band: Kung Fu Rick
CD: Motivation to Abuse
I picked up this CD at the last KFR show I attended. And, while I can't even
compare it to the live show, its still a CD packed with energy and quirky sound
bits. Hardcore styling that will make your speakers wish they never left the
shipping plant.

CD: the European Pop Punk Virus
The title pretty much says it all: Previously unreleased tracks from some of the
best European Pop Punk bands. The only disappointment is that many of the songs
sound so similar… but I guess that just goes to show that punk rock crosses
those international boarders quite well. Some notable bands: The Manges, The
Lulabelles, and The Battledykes.
Band: The Apers
CD: Teenage Drama Every Kid Will Understand
Pop Punk with a nasally drone from the Netherlands. Songs about girls and other
teenage topics. It would be an ok listen if it weren't for such lyrics as "
That girl looks just like a centerfold…Every time I think about her/makes me
wonder/ what she looks like in the shower,"
Band: The Apers
CD: The Apers
More songs focused on girls and teen angst from the Apers, but a definite
improvement over "teenage drama..." Simple, straight-forward punk.
This band is definitely moving in the right direction. Now if only they would
stay away from the "Beauty Queens..."
Band: The Lulabelles
7 inch: Beyond Punk Rock and Bowling Shoes
Fast and catchy. Screeching Weasel meets Bikini Kill so it's a Bikini Weasel or
a Screeching Kill type of record. 4 songs about punk rock shows, El Caminos and
beating up Ben Weasel and Joe King. Not all song is about that stuff each one
has a different topic…. Plus it is on white wax!
Band: Winepress
CD: Complete Recordings
Winepress was a band that lasted from 1992-1994 and this is all the stuff that
they recorded. This is very poppy and catchy. I love this kind of stuff, and it
will be in my CD player for a while.

CD: Skins & Pinz vol. 2
a lot of punk bands…ya know
Band: The Nerds
CD: ... Just Because She Didn't Wanna fuck
This is a fucked up and cool record at the same time. Song tittles like "
Midnight Death Party" and Flesh Groove Corpse Death" makes you think
of Troma movie tittles. This album is very scary; on the cover there is this
dead girl with blood all over her. Some similar bands are The Dwarves, GG Allan,
and The Bulemics.
Band: The Methadones
CD: Ill At Ease
Very, very great record! That is all I have to say, and all I need to say. What
do you expect when you have Dan Schafer (ex. Screeching Weasel, Sludgeworth)
writing lyrics? Pop Punk with monotone vocals...If that makes any sense?
Band: The Manges
CD: The Manges 'R' Good Enough
Ramones Inspired Pop Punk that will knock you on your ass and leave you begging
for more like a nerd and a hooker.
Band: MI6
CD: Lunchbox
A " catch 22/ nofx" type of band. I am not trying to trash this band
because they are good, but I am just sick of this kind of music and want to hear
something different.
Band: Yakuza
CD: Amount to Nothing
This CD is about two years old and I wish I would have gotten it two years ago
because it is so fucking good! Trash Metal with a Jazz-a-dellic, tribal mood
that can make you mosh or you can just relax too. Yakuza has a stage show that
does not compare to this CD. But isn't that true with most bands? They just got
through recording their new CD and I have not heard but two songs off of it but
you should put a little money to the side and buy it when it comes out. http://www.yakuzadojo.com/
Bands: Green Beret/ Godstomper
7inch: Split
This is one of the best grind splits that I have heard in a while. The
Godstomper side is OK, but the Green Beret side is like a bloody fetus falling
out of the womb onto a record player then slapping you in the face with its
umbilical cord. Unbelievable grind!!!! For $3 buzz-nicks, you can't go wrong. Buy

CD: Escape
This CD sounds like a mix between Minor Threat, NOFX, and a little bit of
hard-core (east coast style). This band is from France and they have been around
since 1988. They are experienced and this album shows it. Also included are two
videos that are playable on your computer. Victory Records PO Box

Band: Wack Trucks
CD: Shake This
The vocals on this album sound kind or Rancid'ish. The music though, is a mix
between The Sex Pistols and the year 2000 average punk band. I am not saying
that in a band way, I liked this CD. Some of the songs are catchy, and some
aren't. Offsite Records Wack Trucks 3925 Braeburn Dr. Muskegon, MI

Band: Screeching Weasel
CD: Teen Punks In Heat
This is another great album from Chicago's finest in Punk Rock. This has catchy
songs like Gotta Girlfriend and Bottom of the 9th. You know the sound and you
know the band, go out and get this album right now. Panic Button Records
Band: Sig Transit Gloria
CD: 2/8/2000
The CD is Emo'est thing that I have heard in a long time. Very Emo with some
keyboards. Some whiney vocals, and Emo type music in the background. I give CD
the ratting of Emo, or a ten on the Emo meter. Johann's Face Records PO Box 479164 Chicago, IL 60647

Band: Flatus
CD: Blindsided
Punk n' fucking Roll!! This CD is awesome, I love how it rock's you every song.
I can't compare this to any other bands that I have heard. It sounds like they
are doing their own thing. It may sound like the Misfits covering a Rocking 80's
hair band, with flaming guitar solo's. A+ Black Pumpkin Records PO Box 4377 River Edge, NJ 07661

Band: Catch 22
CD: alone in a crowd
Catch 22 blend swing, metal, folk, ska, punk, and even use an orchestra to form
their own kind of style. They even cover a Beach Boys song. Another great
release from Victory Records. Victory Records PO Box 146546 Chicago, IL 60614 www.victoryrecords.com
Band: Jose Freese
CD: The Notorious One Man Orgy
This album is Josh Freese. The Notorious One Man Orgy-12 songs written,
performed, and produced by Josh. This album offers a hard driving pop-punk
musical insight into what it is like to be Josh Freese. This album gets a ten
out of 10. It hits my G-spot just right, Kung Fu Records. Kung Fu Records PO Box 3061 Seal Beach, CA 90740

CD: The "Gone With The Wind" of Punk Rock Samplers
With songs from The Ataris, The Vandals, Josh Freese, Apocalypse Hoboken, MxPx,
and Assorted Jelly Beans this sampler is awesome. I cant really give any
samplers a review, they usually have bands that I don't like, and are way to
long. This sampler is not any of those. I like all of the bands and the length
is just right at 49 minutes and 52 seconds. Kung Fu Records PO Box 3061 Seal Beach, CA
