interview

Who thought up the name of the band?

We were all just kinda brainstorming at a practice one day...we decided to change the name from Suburbia (see the song: Apathy from "bitter?") and some of us (me!) were diametrically opposed...and thinking I was witty shouted out Mixelpricks thinking I had the DC character Mr. Myxyztplx...we liked it and it stuck....that's a pretty lame story.

Touring? Like it, dislike it, why?

love it and hate it.
It's GREAT fun meeting new people, cool people and making new friends, and playing is a total blast...but you spend so much time on the road getting one place to the next.
I'm pretty high maintenance so I miss showers and home life after about 4 days it just gets to you. I'm a wuss...but the absolute BEST part is having fun, hanging out w/ my BEST friends :) awww....(gag)

Recording? Do you think it is a fun experience, or a sucky piece of suck?

Again:
both.
See I have the lucky/sucky task of being percussion, so I get all the attention on day one :)
My parts HAVE to be on, or nothing else can happen, so I get all my stuff tracked, and done and over with until it's time for vocals...then I sit back, and make fun of everybody else :)
it's a lot of pressure at first, but we've done it...let's see...about 10 times now, so I pretty much know the drill, and it's not intimidating like it once was.... :)

Maximum Rock n'Roll, do you like it, or is it getting old?

I don't like ANY zines anymore ;)...they are mostly all just bitching and name-calling. I used to think punk rock was this utopia where we were all misfits together, but it's more like an elitist organization wherein if you aren't wearing the right shirt, you're out. And zines (not all but a lot) carry this stigmata along. I DO enjoy MUSIC based zines like shredding paper, Spank, or others along those lines (this is what I strive to make MINE about)...so ones that deal with Music, and it's art form are a-ok...but ones like MRR and all that...they are just "there" for me. Not good, not bad...just there for information. I DO give them a great amount of respect thought, b/c w/o them and other like them, I would never have been where I am today...influentially speaking.

Blink-182 and Limp Bizkit, What do you think of em'?

Not a fan of either. Blink at least writes a somewhat catchy hook, but limp just SUCK my Bizkit. It's not necessarily (in either case) that their music is bad (well maybe in Mr. Durst's case)...just the misfortune of being overplayed on the radio...incessantly...to the point of saturation. It's just...annoying.

The movie Summer of Sam, Have you heard of it?

Of course!

If so don't you think it is the coolest movie?

I wouldn't know...I have ONLY heard of it...never seen it...but I loved that they used The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" in the previews thought...I think I'll go rent that actually... :)

Who does what in the band, and the age of your instruments?

I (Steve) play the percussion...My age is 26. Jason's on bass (25), Keith on guitar/vox (25), and Michael guitar (31?) It's not nice to ask the age question!! :)

Any closing remarks, plugs, advice for the readers?

No, we're losers...we have lot's of stuff available for sale, like albums, comps and stuff. We have a new 7" out!! Totally unreleased stuff. Yeah us.
